When connecting to a terminal session using some versions of Windows with particular Bluetooth chips it is possible that the terminal will show strange ^@ characters or NULL bytes in the response stream.

The problem seems to be limited to certain Bluetooth chipsets - the guidance below should only be followed if you are experiencing the problem described above (on Windows, NULL/^@ characters in received byte stream)

The three steps below detail how to enable "Forced Binary Mode" on the Airconsole-LE as a workaround solution.

1. Install the ACLE updater app onto an iOS device to perform the firmware upgrade and reconfiguration steps in 2+3.

The "ACLE Updater" program is available in the iOS App Store at https://apps.apple.com/us/app/acle-updater/id1345717778

2. Upgrade the Airconsole-LE to version 1.33 or above

a.) Make sure your Airconsole-LE is attached to a USB power supply

b.) start the ACLE updater program and wait for it to discover your Airconsole-LE. If the reported firmware version is already 1.33.xx and above, continue to step 3, if not, continue with the firmware upgrade

c.) Choose the "Update Firmware" button

d.) Press the "Check Online" button and wait a few seconds to ensure that the latest firmware version is downloaded into the app. Once downloaded, select the firmware file to update to

e.) Press the "Start Upgrade" button and follow the on-screen instructions. Upgrades will take 1-2 minutes to complete.

3. Change the setting "Bluetooth" -> "Binary Mode" to "Force"

a.) start the ACLE updater program and wait for it to discover your Airconsole-LE. If the reported firmware version is below 1.33.xx you will need to upgrade the firmware as detailed in step 2

b.) Select your Airconsole device from the list then choose "Change Settings"

c.) Scroll down to the "Bluetooth" section and select "Binary Mode" and change the option from Auto to "Force"

d.) Press the "Save" button at the top right and wait for the Airconsole-LE to reboot
